Josh Soderblom
Josh Soderblom is the founder of ikonic303, a forward deployed engineering practice based in Denver, Colorado. He embeds with operating companies of 50 to 500 people, measures what one broken workflow actually costs, builds the fix into the stack they already run, and stays to operate it.
Operator first, engineer second
Josh did not arrive at forward deployed engineering from a consulting firm. He got here by running his own operating company — quoting jobs, chasing follow-ups, missing calls, and watching the gap between what software promised and what actually ran on a Tuesday.
The systems ikonic303 sells existed before the practice did. They were built because his own business needed them: missed-call response that answers in seconds, quote follow-up that does not forget, pipelines that tell the truth, publishing automation that runs every week without being babysat. ikonic303 packages that discipline for other operators.
What he actually does on an engagement
- Sits inside the workflow until the numbers are real — people, hours, rework, missed opportunities.
- Builds into the systems you already run instead of selling a replacement.
- Deploys alongside the people who will use it, and handles the exceptions that surface in week one.
- Stays accountable for the system in production — adoption, edge cases, results.
And when the math does not clear the cost of building, he will say so and point you at a process change or off-the-shelf software instead. That rule is written into what it costs.
The writing
Every guide on this site is written by Josh from operating experience — the cost of a manual workflow, which workflow to automate first, why AI pilots die, and the rest of the guides.
